Create PHA3 Booking accommodation & airport transfer

Please note that these will be the only official languages durung the PHA3. Translation from and to other language will be informally organized depending on volunteer bi-lingual participants.
ACCOMMODATION
The PHA3 organizing committee can assist booking accommodation at the hostel of the University of Western Cape (UWC) where the PHA3 is taking place. Please take into account that UWC is situated 30 minutes drive from Cape Town and there is no public transport to and from the venue.
A list of alternative accommodation in different locations in and around Cape Town can be found on our website under practical information. PHM cannot commit itself to assist the accommodation booking outside UWC.
Please be aware, when booking accommodation outside UWC, to also arrange for a rental car or taxi to get to the PHA3 venue – people drive at the left side of the road. PHM made arrangements with reliable taxi companies as well as car rental places and negotiated a favourable rate. More information on cost for transport can be found on the PHA3 website.
Accommodation at UWC can be booked at following cost:
Single Room: USD35/26.5EUR/280ZAR incl Breakfast per person per night
Twin Room: USD24/ 18.25EUR/ 192ZAR incl Breakfast per person per night

Payment: cash upon arrival in USD, EUR or ZAR
Airport transfer
Lunches and dinners will be provided at low cost at UWC. Participants can order lunch and dinner before 10th of June. Please note that UWC is isolated from restaurants and shops. Because PHA3 includes an evening program after dinner, we urge everybody to stay at UWC for dinner.
Lunch: will be in the form of a food market where small and large meals will be provided through vouchers. The different stalls will present the different local flavours of South Africa. Depending on the size of the meal, the cost for lunch will vary between approximately 5 USD / 3.8EUR/ 40ZAR and 12.5USD/9.5EUR/100ZAR
Vouchers for lunch can be ordered beforehand. Please indicate below how much vouchers you wish to order. Additional vouchers can be purchased on site. Dinner: will be in buffet and needs to be booked before 10th of June. Dinner will be at cost of 9 USD, 6.5 EUR or 70 ZAR per night. Dinners cannot be ordered on site or after 10th of June

Meals
PHA3 organizing committee offers Lunches and dinners will be provided at low cost.
Lunch: will be in the form of a foodmarket, vouchers will be able to be purchased at cost of 4 USD, 3 EUR or 33 ZAR.
Dinner: will be in buffet and needs to be booked before 20th of June. Dinner will be at cost of 10 USD, 8 EUR or 83 ZAR per night.

PHA3 offers an evening program and therefore we urge everybody to stay at UWC for dinner. Please take into account that there are no restaurants in the neighbourhood and that there is no public transport to and from town.

Children
Day care at the UWC crèche for children from 2 to 5 years old will be provided between 8am to 4pm, at no extra cost. Between 16h and 19h, there will be a cost per child depending on the amount of children that needs day care after 16h.
PHM will not be able to accommodate children younger than 2 and older than 5 years. An indemnity form will need to be signed upon arrival.
Simultaneous translation
Session at PHA3 will have speakers from different countries and as such sessions will take place in different languages: English, French and Spanish. PHM is providing professional interpretation for most sessions.
The equipment used includes small radios with earplugs for the participants on which they can indicate the channel of their language of preference. Because the channels are not easy to be found on radio’s we request participants to use radio’s that have a digital way of choosing the radio channel.
PHM offers radio’s and earplugs that match the interpretation equipment and that guarantee good transmission. Participants can buy these radio’s for a subsidised price of maximum USD15. (we are still looking for a cheaper option)
Because of our limited human resource, we can only provide technical assistance to those who have purchased the radio with PHM.
